Glory at Sea

I don’t recall how, but I came across this excellent short film by Court 13, not too long ago. It’s worth taking the 25 minutes to watch.

The mythology that will arise out of the Gulf Coast in our lifetime as a direct result of Katrina, and her aftermath, will be amazing to watch. It’s very difficult for me to empathize with those who have truly lost everything, not just materially, but losing loved ones. I believe the art and music that comes from and focuses on the lives impacted by this storm will key in reforming the system that failed us in those days. It will also play an important role in the process of rebuilding.

Take the time to watch it, you’ll thank me.

Vacation! Continued…

Thanksgiving day two… We had lunch yesterday at one of my favorite places down in Morehead City, Sanitary Fish Market, with the extended family. After lunch, we got to hang out around the house and at the beach and closed the evening out with even more food over at the Deadwyler’s place. Tons of great food, lots of great family time, and there are many many more photos to post, but that is for another day. Cheers!

Vacation!

The annual Thanksgiving vacation has begun! We’ve come up earlier than usual, it’s Tuesday evening, and won’t be back in Cary until sometime Sunday… that means we get four full days of nothing to do! I’m pretty excited as you might guess. Even cooler is that we’ll have 28 people here this year, as opposed to the usual eight or nine… Looking forward to sharing lots of cool photos, and I’ll hopefully get to do some more meaningful blogging, including some reminiscing on the sad state of the fishing piers down here. Cheers!

Taking the Camera for a Drive

Last week I went on another overnight trip down to Manteo. Getting up at 4:30 in the morning was a little rough, but with a stop at Starbucks on the way out of town, I made great time. As a bonus, I brought the Nikon with me and took some photos, here are my favorite twenty.

New Article at NewRaleigh

I just got finished writing a new article about a house I got to help build while at Buildsense in 2005. This great little modern house is located in an post-ww2 neighborhood in Durham, and provides for a stark contrast to the neighbors without totally turning its back on the scale (square footage wise) of the neighborhood. It’s rather green, and I’ve got some images below. (All images are courtesy of Buildsense Inc. and remain the sole intellectual property thereof, etc. etc.)
